First Time at a Dispensary in Ponca City? Here's What to Expect

Walking into a dispensary for the first time can feel a little intimidating. You might not know what to bring, what to ask for, or how any of it works. The good news is that it's easier than you think, and at Treehouse Pharmacy in Ponca City, helping first-time patients is one of our favorite parts of the job.

Here's what to expect, step by step.

Before You Go: What to Bring

• Your OMMA patient card, or your official OMMA approval email if your card hasn't arrived yet. Don't have a card yet? Our OMMA card guide walks you through getting one.
• A government-issued photo ID, like a driver's license or state ID.
• Cash. Like most Oklahoma dispensaries, we're cash only because of federal banking rules. There's an ATM in the store if you need it.

Visiting from out of state? Oklahoma offers temporary patient licenses to visitors who hold a valid medical marijuana card from their home state. Apply through the OMMA portal before your visit.

When You Walk In

First, we'll check your OMMA card and ID. Oklahoma law requires us to verify every patient before a purchase, and it only takes a minute.

Next, you'll talk with one of our budtenders. Think of them as your guide. They'll ask a few questions to point you in the right direction:

• What are you hoping for? Better sleep, pain relief, relaxation, appetite, or something else.
• How experienced are you? It's completely fine to say "this is my first time."
• How would you like to use it? Smoking, vaping, edibles, or something you don't inhale at all.
• What's your budget? We carry top-shelf and affordable options in every category.

There's no pressure and no rush, so ask as many questions as you like.

The Main Product Types

Here's a quick tour of what you'll find on our shelves:

• Flower: the dried cannabis bud you smoke or vaporize. Strains are labeled indica, sativa or hybrid, but those labels are only a rough guide, so tell us the effect you're after.
• Pre-rolls: flower that's already rolled and ready to go. They're a great way to try a strain without buying a larger amount.
• Vapes: cartridges and disposables. They're discreet, with less smell than smoking.
• Edibles: gummies, chocolates, baked goods and drinks. They last a long time but are slower to kick in and easy to overdo, so read our edible dosing guide before your first one.
• Concentrates: much stronger extracts like wax, shatter and live resin. They're usually not the best place for beginners to start.
• Tinctures, capsules and topicals: drops, pills, lotions and patches for patients who don't want to smoke at all.

Reading Our Menu

You can browse our live menu before you visit. It shows what's in stock right now, with prices and lab results. A few things to know:

• THC and terpenes: flower, vapes and concentrates show their total THC and terpene levels. Higher THC isn't always better, especially when you're new.
• Lab results: tap Lab results on a product to see its cannabinoids and top terpenes from testing.
• Edibles are listed by milligrams per package and per dose instead of a percentage, because that's the number that tells you how strong one piece is.

After Your Visit

• Store your products safely in their original packaging, out of reach of children and pets.
• Consume only on private property. In Oklahoma, it's illegal to consume cannabis in public places or in a vehicle.
• Don't drive after using cannabis.
• Start low and go slow, especially with edibles and concentrates.
